The Honey Tree

Paying tribute to the first big batches of soap made at home when I was growing up, the Honey Tree brings the camphoraceous glory of Tea Tree into the Organic Dynamic family. Grounded with a touch of Cedarwood oil, this fragrance profile is gentle, but firm!

Tea Tree Essential Oil is one of the most widely studied, ancient, and appreciated medicinal oils. For generations, in the time before colonizing travelers even happened upon the shores of Australia, the aborigines of the continent were masters of herbal medicine. Using the leaves of the tea tree, members of the community would fashion antibacterial poultices over wounds and cuts, using the essential oils within to stave off infections and speed healing. Long before European scientific standards reached across the oceans, experimentation with microbe and bacteria-fighting compounds was already happening.

Now, in the modern age of commercial cultivation, we find ourselves once again blessed to put those same compounds to use worldwide. When used topically, tea tree oil can help to combat the bacteria responsible for the acne reaction, fight fungus infestations, and can even be used as a chemical-free mouthwash. Despite its widely antimicrobial property, the chemical makeup of this essential oil is not harsh on human skin, and in fact can soothe skin irritation, all without using chemical additives. 

This is the second OD soap bar crafted with local honey! Honey has been revered for centuries for its sweet flavor, but is far more prized in our modern age for its natural antimicrobial effects. Invitro and clinical studies have already confirmed the broad-spectrum antimicrobial (antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antimycobacterial) properties of honey, making it a lovely addition to any skincare product. Also, soapmaking communities laud the moisturizing effects of honey-additive soaps; let’s test that naturopathic theory!

Ingredients: Coconut, hemp seed, olive and avocado oils, shea butter, distilled water*, sodium hydroxide*, Tennessee honey, tea tree oil, less than 2% of cedarwood oil

All of the Organic Dynamic soaps are made using the same timeless recipe that has kept humanity clean since 2800BC. Soap is made by saponifying oils with alkali, with no waste generated. The alkali is sodium hydroxide, carried in a distilled water solution. The soapmaking process utilizes 100% of this solution, leaving behind only pure, pH-neutral soap, with all natural glycerin retained.
